Paul Earley's Story

Thanks for taking the time to read my story.

Each year since 2011 I have been involved in both organising and doing this charity cycle to raise funds for breast cancer research in Ireland.  My goal in 2022 is to cycle 10,000 kms for Breast Cancer research of which i have completed 5,500 to date.  The 10 day charity cycle is a great incentive to take on a good challenge along with many other cyclists and supporters and raise vital funds for research as well as helping me get closer to my goal.

All of us are aware of people who have been lost to breast cancer in recent years, and know others fortunate to win their own battles. Largely these successes are down to advances in clinical research and the National Breast Cancer Research Institute is a world renowned research organisation working in collaboration with other clinical research institutes and universities internationally and in Ireland.

The institute is led by Prof. Michael Kerin who reminds us that “breast cancer is the most frequent cancer worldwide in women and, while treatments and outcomes are improving, there is a compelling need for continued research into its cause and treatment. Over 3500 new cases of breast cancer are diagnosed in Ireland each year. Advances in cancer biosciences research provide the basis for earlier diagnosis and new treatment regimes for breast cancer.”

Thanks to the great support we have received over the last 12 years, almost €1,000,000 has been raised to support cancer research. This year we are hoping to hit the €1m mark.

I am very grateful for your fundraising support and any donation you can give this year will be very much appreciated

Many thanks

Currently 1 in 7 Irish women will be diagnosed with breast cancer before 75 years of age and there are 3,507 cases diagnosed annually which is set to continue to increase. The National Breast Cancer Research Institute fund research programmes to help impact the outcomes for those who develop the disease in the future. Only through research can we improve medications, treatments and outcomes for those who develop breast cancer.
